HOOS LIFE: Get to Know Luke Schaap
Your Nickname: Wolf
Your dream foursome and where you would play: Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, and Jack Nicklaus at Augusta National
How you mark your ball: I mark it with a red line on the side label, it helps me get lined up on the greens.
Your favorite club: The 60 degree because it allows me to be the most creative in terms of what kind of shot I choose to play.
Your favorite course: Pinehurst No. 2. You have so many options around the greens, you get the opportunity to hit shots you would never be able to hit anywhere else.

Favorite snack during a round: Peanut butter crunch Clif Bar
Favorite warm-up artist/song: “For What it’s Worth” by Buffalo Springfield
Who introduced you to the game: My family moved into a golf course community in Naples, Fla., when I was three, so I’d go out with my dad occasionally to ride in the golf cart. I started taking lessons at five, and that’s when I got hooked pretty quickly.
Best golf advice: “Have fun!” My first golf coach, Ty Andersen, always told me if you’re going to beat yourself up playing this game you may as well go play tennis or something.
Story behind your ball marker: I typically use a quarter as it’s big enough to see from a distance but not too big to where it affects other people’s putts.
Your golf course superstition: To keep playing the same ball if things are going well. Even if it gets a little scratched up, I’ll keep playing it as long as I like what’s happening.
If I could play another sport at UVA it would be: Basketball. The atmosphere and the fans at JPJ are incredible and our basketball team always plays at such a high level.
