Mamadi Diakite scored a game-high 14 points along with nine rebounds as No. 1 seed Virginia defeated No. 9 seed Oklahoma 63-51 in the NCAA second round on Sunday, March 24 in Columbia, S.C.
Ty Jerome added 12 points, three assists and three steals and De’Andre Hunter added 10 points before fouling out.
Braxton Key added nine points and nine rebounds and Kihei Clark chipped in nine points as UVA tied a school record with its 31st win.
• Virginia used an 18-2 run en route to a 31-22 halftime lead.
• The Cavaliers shot 48.2 percent and overcame Kyle Guy’s 2 of 15 effort from the field.
• Brady Manek and Christian James each had 13 points for Oklahoma (20-14), which shot 36.5 percent (19 of 52) in the loss.
