DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. – Virginia junior Pietro Bovari tied for second place to help Virginia to a fifth-place finish in the team standings at the Daniel Island Intercollegiate to wrap up the Cavaliers’ fall season. Bovari shot 4-over 76 during the final round and was one of four players to finish at 3-under 213. The College of Charleston’s Nevill Ruiter captured medalist honors at 4-under 212.

As a team Virginia shot 10-over 298 during the final round for a 54-hole total of 6-over 870. Seton Hall won the 20-team tournament at 6-under 858.

Sophomore Jaron Leasure, who was competing as a non-team scoring individual, was 10th overall at even par 216. He shot 3-under 69 during Monday’s final round. It was the first tournament of his collegiate career. He qualified for UVA’s lineup at the season-opening Scenic City Collegiate, but the event was rained out.

Among the team’s scoring players, sophomore George Duangmanee had the second-best finish, placing 16th at 2-over 218. He shot 2-over 74 during the final round. Sophomore Chris Fosdick was 32nd at 221, senior Sam Jung was 38th at 222 and senior Jack Montague was 52nd at 226. Fosdick finished with a 76 while Jung shot 73 over the final 18 holes and Montague carded a final-round score of 75.

The Cavaliers will open their spring season on Jan. 30 at the Georgia Southern Invitational. Feb. 20 will be the first team event when UVA travels to Florida State’s Camp Creek Seminole Invitational.
