CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia softball head coach Joanna Hardin released the program’s 2022 schedule on Thursday (Dec. 2). The 53-game schedule features 29 non-conference games and a 24-game conference slate.

Virginia opens up the season with an extended road stretch that includes four round-robin tournaments.

After opening at Charlotte (Feb. 10), the Cavaliers will play in a tournament at South Carolina (Feb. 11-13) with games against George Washington, Lipscomb, North Carolina and host South Carolina. Virginia will then compete in a tournament at Charleston Southern (Feb. 18-20) with games against Sacred Heart and Charleston Southern.

Road play will continue in a tournament at UNCG (Feb. 25-27) with games against Bucknell, Loyola-Chicago, Towson and UNCG before traveling for a single game at Liberty (Mar. 1). Tournament play will then conclude with a trip to Tennessee (Mar. 4-6) where the Cavaliers will play in a bracketed tournament that opens with round-robin play against Dartmouth, South Alabama and Tennessee.

In non-conference action, the Cavaliers will also host Maryland (Mar. 8), North Dakota State (Mar. 15), Liberty (Mar. 22), Longwood (Mar. 29) and JMU (April 6). Virginia will also play non-conference road games at George Washington (April 19), Longwood (April 26) and JMU (May 3).

In ACC play, the Cavaliers will host Notre Dame (Mar. 11-13), Florida State (April 1-3), Duke (April 8-10) and Pittsburgh (April 22-24). Virginia will travel for series at NC State (Mar. 18-20), Boston College (Mar. 25-27), Virginia Tech (April 15-17) and Louisville (April 29 – May 1).

The ACC Championships will be hosted by Pittsburgh (May 11-14).
