STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 9 Virginia women’s golf team capped its fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Stanford Intercollegiate. The Cavaliers shot 3-over 287 for the second consecutive round to finish the three-day event at 4-over 856. Top-ranked Stanford took the team title at 15-under 837 on its home course.

UVA was led on Sunday by the 2-under 69 from sophomore Megan Propeck. She shared the team’s top finish with teammate Jennifer Cleary in 13th place. Each player finished at 1-under 212. Cleary shot 1-over 72 during the final round.

Propeck’s finish (13th), final round score (69) and overall score (212) were all career best performances.

Amanda Sambach and Celeste Valinho tied for 48th place at 220 for UVA. Both shot 4-over 75 during the final round. Riley Smyth posted a score of even par 71 to complete the tournament in 57th place at 221.

Freshman Maline Krause, competing in her first collegiate event as an individual, shot 77 during the final round and finished 94th.

The tournament wraps up UVA’s fall schedule. The Cavaliers return to action on Feb. 5-6 when they host the Guadalajara Country Club Collegiate Invitational in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
