No. 14 Virginia Hosts No. 10 North Carolina in Regular-Season Finale

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The No. 14 Virginia men’s soccer team (9-3-3, 4-2-1 ACC) is set to host No. 10 North Carolina (7-2-5, 2-2-3 ACC) on Friday night (Oct. 27)  at Klöckner Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

HOW TO FOLLOW
Friday night’s match against North Carolina will be streamed on ACC Network which is available through the ESPN app and at WatchESPN.com for customers who have the ACC Network as part of their TV subscription. Links to both the broadcast and live stats are available at VirginiaSports.com. Fans can also get updates by following the program’s official Twitter account (@UVAMenSoccer).

PARKING INFORMATION
Due to a concert at John Paul Jones arena at the same time as the men’s soccer game, fan parking will be at the Emmett/Ivy Garage (EIG) with access off Emmett Street or Ivy Road. Shuttles will be provided from the parking garage to the entrance to Klöckner Stadium. The JPJ South and West lots are reserved for concert parking only.

Parking is free, but fans will be required to reserve a space at the EIG by going to https://uva.pmreserve.com with the code ATH23SOCCER. Reservations can be made in advance or upon arrival.

THE SERIES WITH NORTH CAROLINA

  • This match will mark the 90th meeting all-time between Virginia and North Carolina—a rivalry that dates back to 1946
  • Virginia is 0-2-1 against UNC in its last three meetings and last beat the Tar Heels in 2019 (W, 2-1 OT)
  • That game in 2019 was also UVA’s regular-season finale—goals from Daryl Dike (‘4) and Andreas Ueland (‘100) lifted UVA to a 2-1 win, clinching its first ACC Coastal title.
  • Virginia is 36-42-11 all-time against UNC with a mark of 18-16-5 at home

CAVALIERS FINDING FORM

  • The Cavaliers are unbeaten in their last seven games while winning each of its last three
  • In those matches, Virginia has outscored its opponents by a margin of 14-4 while keeping three clean sheets
  • In three ACC contests over that stretch, Virginia has taken 10 points out of a possible 12 to surge into second place in the ACC coastal. Virginia logged wins over No. 8 Louisville, No. 11 Pitt and Virginia Tech while taking a draw from BC on the road.
  • Virginia has scored three goals in back-to-back games. The last time UVA recorded 3+ goals in three straight games was in 2013 (George Mason 3-0, NC State 3-3, Providence 4-0)

WHAT’S ON THE LINE

  • Virginia is guaranteed to host its first game in the ACC Tournament, but UVA is vying with Clemson, Duke and Syracuse for a top-four seed and an automatic berth in the quarterfinal round.
  • Virginia sits on 13 points with its rivals Duke and Syracuse on 10 points. A point from UNC will secure a top-four finish.
