CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia attackman Connor Shellenberger has been named a preseason first team All-American, according to USA Lacrosse Magazine, the publication announced Wednesday (Jan. 17). Shellenberger is a two-time Tewaaraton Award Finalist and a three-time USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American, including a first-team recipient in 2021.

In addition to Shellenberger, Cole Kastner (second team), Payton Cormier (third team), Griffin Schutz (third team), Noah Chizmar (honorable mention) and Chase Yager (honorable mention) also received recognition.

Virginia’s six honorees tied for second most among all programs nationally.

The Cavaliers were voted No. 3 in USA Lacrosse Magazine’s preseason poll, which was announced on Jan. 3.

Virginia kicks off its 2024 campaign on Saturday, Feb. 10, when the Hoos host Michigan in their season opener. Start times and broadcast designations will be announced at later date as determined by the ACC and its television partners.
