CHARLOTTESVILLE Va. – The Virginia softball team (10-4) heads back out on the road Tuesday (Feb. 27) to play a single game at Radford (7-5). First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Tuesday’s contest was originally scheduled as a doubleheader, but was dropped to a single contest due to expected inclement weather in the area.

  • Virginia is coming off an undefeated weekend after going 4-0 at the Rawlings Classic this past weekend with wins over Iowa State, Delaware and two wins over Lehigh.
  • Jade Hylton was one of the top hitters at the plate over the weekend, hitting at a .727 clip with seven RBI, two runs scored and also drew three walks. She is hitting .357 on the year and leads the
  • Sarah Coon was also a force at the plate over the weekend, driving in the run for a walk-off win in the ninth inning against Iowa State and hitting a three-run home run against Delaware in a 5-0 win over the Blue Hens.
  • Eden Bigham set a career high with 14 strikeouts against Lehigh in the first game of the weekend, striking out the first 12 batters faced and 14-of-16 batters in the game.
  • Bigham then struck out nine in six innings of relief work to get the win over Iowa State on Sunday.
  • Madi Harris moved to 3-0 on the season with her win over Delaware and worked a career-long of 4.0 innings in the start. She has yet to surrender a run this season and has 22 strikeouts for her career.
  • Harris tied the UVA career saves record on Saturday with her save against Lehigh in the second game of the weekend against the Mountain Hawks. She has nine saves for her career.

THE SERIES WITH RADFORD

  • Virginia and Radford have faced each other 44 times with the Cavaliers leading the series 25-19.
  • The Hoos swept a doubleheader with the Highlanders at Palmer Park, taking a 7-0 and 10-2 victories. The 10-2 win was a run-rule win.
  • Virginia has won three straight in the series as the Hoos also won the 2021 meeting 2-1 in Charlottesville.
  • This is the first trip to Radford for the Hoos since the 2019 season when the teams played a single game.

UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia returns home to open ACC play this weekend with a three-game set against Boston College. First pitch in the series opener on Friday is set for 5 p.m. Saturday is set for a 1p.m. start, while Sunday’s finale is set for a noon first pitch.
