Top-10 Match-Up for No. 6 Virginia on Thursday

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  The No. 6 Virginia women’s tennis team (15-2, 7-0 ACC) hosts No. 10 NC State (15-5, 5-2 ACC) on Thursday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort. The Cavaliers close out the weekend by hosting Wake Forest (13-8, 4-3 ACC) on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m.

Both matches are scheduled to be played on the outdoor courts of the Virginia Tennis Facility at the Boar’s Head Resort. Please monitor UVA Women’s Tennis social media accounts for weather-related changes.

CAVALIER NOTES

• Virginia slipped one spot to No. 6 in this week’s ITA team rankings
• UVA is in sole possession of first place in the ACC standings at 7-0. North Carolina is second at 7-1 and NC State is third at 5-2
• The 7-0 is the best start for the team in conference play in program history
• Junior Mélodie Collard has won her last eight completed singles matches, the longest active win streak on the team. Junior Elaine Chervinsky is on a 7-match win streak. Both are 13-1 in dual matches this season
• Senior Sara Ziodato picked up her 25th singles victory of the season last weekend. She is 25-6 in singles overall and 13-2 in duals
• Senior Hibah Shaikh and grad student Natasha Subhash are 17-3 in doubles and are ranked No. 27. They are 8-2 in their last 10 matches
• NC State moved up four places in this week’s ITA team rankings to No. 10
• Last weekend, the Wolfpack picked up their second win over North Carolina of the season, taking down the Tar Heels 4-3 on Friday, but were edged 4-3 by Duke on Sunday
• NC State won the 2023 ACC Championship and were the runners-up for the NCAA Championship
• Virginia leads the all-time series 37-12 and has won the last three meetings including a 5-2 victory last season
• Wake Forest is No. 33 in this week’s ITA team rankings

• The Cavaliers are on the road next weekend, playing at No. 8 North Carolina on Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m. and at No. 19 Duke on Sunday, April 7 at 12 p.m.
