Chloe Schiavone Joins UVA Women’s Golf Program
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia women’s golf head coach Ria Scott announced today (July 15) that former Notre Dame women’s golf standout Chloe Schiavone will join the Cavalier program from the 2024-25 season. She will have one year of eligibility at UVA and will compete as a graduate student this season.
A native of Jacksonville, Fla., Schiavone posted six top-20 finishes for the Irish last season. Playing in the No. 1 or No. 2 position for most of the season in the Notre Dame lineup, she had a 72.8 stroke average and placed 17th at the ACC Championships.
“We are looking forward to the experience and depth Chloe will add to our roster,” Scott said. “She plays with great joy, passion and is very driven to make this a great last year both for herself and for this team.”
At Notre Dame, Schiavone completed her undergraduate degree in business administration in 2024. She was a member of the Fighting Irish Student-Athlete Advisory Council during her senior year. She was named to the All-ACC Academic team in 2022, 2023 and 2024 and a Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar those same seasons.
2023-24 (Senior)
• Runner-Up at the Bruzzy (73, 70, 68)
• Recorded four top-20 individual finishes this spring
• Finished with a stroke average of 72.8 this year
2022-23 (Junior)
• Missed the first five events of the 2022-23 season, returning to the lineup at the Columbia Classic and shooting an even-par 144 (72-72) to finish in a tie for sixth place.
• Led the Irish effort at the Clover Cup, finishing 24th (74-72-75).
• Shot one of her two 71s (low-round for the year) in the third at the Chattanooga Classic, finishing t-16th.
• Bounced back from a first-round 79 to shoot 71-72 in the second and third round at the 2023 ACC Championship, eventually finishing t-30th
2021-22 (Sophomore)
• Anchored the Irish lineup throughout the 2021-22 season and earned a spot as an individual competitor in the NCAA Regionals. Finished the season with a team-low 73.8 stroke average.
• Tied for 10th place at the Badger Invitational (73-73-74).
• Her top performance of the year came at the Olde Stone Intercollegiate, posted a 70 in all three rounds for a 210 score and a tie for fourth place.
• Posted her season-low score over 18 holes in the first round at the Clemson Invitational with a 69, she eventually finished t-10th in the event.
• Led the Irish at the ACC Championship with a 76-74-74, which earned her a tie for 24th in the field.
• Finished strong at the NCAA Regional, with identical 74s in the second and third round, eventually finishing 19th overall.
2020-21 (Freshman)
• Played in one tournament during the shortened 2020-21 season before sustaining an injury.
• Made her collegiate debut at the Heroes Ladies Intercollegiate (Feb. 7-9) and led the Irish by tying for 28th (78-71-73-222).
High School, Amateur and Personal
• The only player to win three FGSA state titles in one season, Schiavone was the 2016 West Virginia Women’s State Amateur champion.
• Named the 2018 Florida Girls Player of the Year.
• A semifinalist at the 2018 Women’s Southern Amateur Championship, she was the 2018 Florida Girls Junior Champion and 2018 Florida Girls Match Play Champion.
• As the 2018 First Coast Girls Golfer of the Year, Schiavone finished third at the 2019 Billy Horschel AJGA (71-71-69).
• An accomplished four-ball player, she was a quarterfinalist at the 2018 U.S. Women’s Four Ball Championship.
Won 2018 and 2019 Florida Women’s Four Ball Championships with Arie Yu in record-setting performances on both occasions.
• Daughter of Frank and Lori Schiavone.
• Lori was a swimmer at Arizona State University.
• Was a member of the National Honor Society Member and the Senior Women’s President at Bolles.
• Played varsity tennis for Bolles junior and senior year, helping her team to a state championship runner-up showing her junior year.
