CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 3 Virginia field hockey team (5-0, 0-0 ACC) opens conference play this weekend with two Atlantic Coast Conference contests. UVA hosts California (4-0, 0-0 ACC) on Friday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. and Stanford (5-1, 0-0 ACC) on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1 p.m.

  • Friday’s game will be broadcast on the ACC Network
  • Sunday’s match will stream online on ACCNX through the ESPN app. It is available through participating TV providers that carry ACC Network
  • Live stats are available for both matches
  • Admission is free for all regular-season home games at Turf Field

  • The Cavaliers remained at No. 3 in the NFHCA Coaches Poll
  • There are five undefeated teams remaining in NCAA Division I field hockey: Virginia and Cal are two of those five
  • Virginia’s 5-0 start is its best start to a season since starting the 2013 season at 7-0
  • Grad student Suze Leemans scored the game-winning goal in Virginia’s 1-0 road win at then No. 5 Maryland on Friday. It was her team-leading fourth of the season
  • Through the first five games, nine different Cavaliers have scored goals and a total of 13 players have tallied points. Only four players who have appeared in games have not scored a goal or had an assist yet
  • Virginia is ranked second in the ACC in goals per game (3.00)
  • Virginia is seventh in the nation and second in the ACC in scoring margin at +2.15
  • Friday’s game will be Cal’s first ACC game. Stanford opens conference play on Friday at Louisville
