Three Cavaliers in Top 20 After Round Two

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Thanks to a 1-over, 73 from Mira Berglund on Saturday (March 21), three Cavaliers are in the top 20 entering the final round of The Florida State Match Up at Seminole Legacy Golf Club. Virginia is in seventh place after 36 holes and just two strokes out of fifth place.

As a team, Virginia shot a 12-over, 300 in the second round and slipped one spot after starting the day in a tie for sixth. Florida State leads the field and was the only team to shoot below par on Saturday. The Seminoles currently have a 13-stroke advantage over Tulsa and Eastern Michigan who are tied for second place.

Berglund bogeyed her first three holes before carding an eagle on the 505-yard, par 5, fourth hole. She followed up with another bogey before birdieing the seventh hole and salvaged a 1-over 37 on the front nine. Berglund is tied for 19th at 4-over for the tournament.

Junior Jaclyn Laha shot a 2-over, 74 and remains in the top 10 after shooting an opening round 71 on Friday. Competing as an individual, Remi Bacardi continued her stellar play with a 1-over, 73 on Saturday. She recorded two birdies on the day, including one on the final hole of the afternoon. Bacardi is one stroke behind a five-way tie for ninth place entering Sunday’s final round.

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • Virginia leads the field with 109 pars, paced by LaHa (25) and Elsie MacCleery (25) each, tied for the second most of any player in field.
  • Berglund was one of eight players in the field to record an eagle on Saturday.
