CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Former Virginia women’s golf standouts, Amanda Sambach and Megan Propeck, are set to participate in the 2026 Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship (ANWA). Additionally, Cavalier signee Lily Reitter will compete in the event as well. The first 36 holes will take place at Champions Retreat Golf Club on April 1-2. The final round will be held at Augusta National on Friday, April 3.
Sambach is making her sixth Championship start in 2026. She advanced to the final round at Augusta National and finished inside the top 20 in each of the past three years. The four-time All-American concluded her collegiate career by finishing runner-up in the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Championship and helping her team reach match play in the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships. In both 2023 and 2024, she reached the round of 64 in the U.S. Women's Amateur and represented the United States in the Arnold Palmer Cup. She also earned junior All-America honors in 2019 and 2020, represented her country in the 2019 Junior Solheim Cup and won the 2020 North and South Girls' Junior.
Propeck is making her first Championship start in 2026. In 2025, she earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in her final season at Virginia, recorded top-five finishes in both the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Individual Championship and the Kansas Women's Amateur and reached the round of 32 in the Women's Amateur Championship in Scotland. She reached the round of 64 in the Women's Amateur Championship in Ireland in 2024.
Reitter is making her first Championship start in 2026 as well. Last August in Wales, she defeated Charlotte Naughton in the final, 4&2, to win the R&A Girls' Amateur. She joined the list of winners that includes Suzann Pettersen, Azahara Munoz, Anna Nordqvist, Georgia Hall and Lottie Woad. Also in 2025, she won the French International Women's Amateur and finished runner-up in the Italian International Girls' Championship and T-7 in the Irish Women's Open Stroke Play. In 2024, she won the French Under-21 International Women's Amateur, finished T-9 in the Annika Invitational Europe in Sweden and represented her country in the Junior Solheim Cup in Virginia.
Format:
An international field of 72 women amateurs will compete over 54 holes of stroke play. A cut will take place after 36 holes, advancing the leading 30 players and ties to the final round at Augusta National Golf Club. In the event of a tie after 54 holes, the winner will be decided by sudden-death playoff.
Schedule:
The first 36 holes will be contested over two days on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., April 1 and 2, 2026. The entire field will then play Augusta National for an official practice round Friday, April 3. The final round will take place at Augusta National on Saturday, April 4 and will feature the competitors who made the cut.
Broadcast Information:
The first and second rounds of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur will be broadcast live on Golf Channel (1:30-3:30 p.m. ET) from Champions Retreat Golf Club. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast three hours (Noon-3 p.m. ET) of live final-round coverage of the event at Augusta National. Additionally, Golf Channel’s “Live From the Masters” will commence on Friday, April 3 at Augusta National to provide coverage of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals and the Masters Tournament.
