Sports Medicine – Seasonal Certified Athletic Trainer Positions

The University of Virginia offers several seasonal certified athletic trainer positions. Sport assignments vary but can include: Baseball, Rowing, Men’s and Women’s Squash, Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving, and Men’s and Women’s Tennis. This 10-month position will allow the successful applicants to further advance their knowledge, clinical skills, and care of student-athletes by gaining hands-on autonomous experience.

Seasonal certified athletic trainers will coordinate athletic training services for student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletic programs at UVA under the medical direction of the head team physician and in conjunction with a variety of other healthcare providers as well as UVA Athletic Department performance team staff. This is an hourly wage position, paying $16.00 per hour and capped at 1500 hours over the 10 months. Overtime wage is available.

Candidates should possess the ability to think critically and creatively, problem solve, work with a diverse student-athlete population and understand multicultural issues. These duties may occur during non-traditional business hours, to include nights and weekends. Coverage expectations include, but are not limited to practices, home and away events.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • BOC certification
  • Eligible for Virginia state licensure
  • CPR/AED certification
  • Valid driver’s license
