Courtney Caldwell
Caldwell was named an assistant coach in May 2023 after serving as two seasons as a volunteer assistant for the Cavaliers.
In her two seasons with Virginia, Caldwell has been part of Virginia’s two NCAA Championships on the women’s side. She helped coach three swimmers to individual NCAA titles and saw the Cavaliers sweep all five relay events in 2023 at the NCAA Championships. During the NCAA Championship run, Virginia dropped eight NCAA, American and US Open records. UVA saw 12 swimmers earn All-America honors and 47 total honors throughout the week.
Caldwell joined UVA’s staff for the 2021-22 season as a volunteer assistant, which saw Virginia’s women win seven NCAA individual titles and four relay championships. That season the Cavaliers scored the most points in UVA history to win the NCAA team Championship. Virginia had 12 swimmers earn All-America honors with 48 total honors that season.
Prior to Virginia, Caldwell coached with the Porter Valley Polar Bears located in Los Angeles where she was the lead coach for their Senior group.
Caldwell swam for NC State for three years where she earned All-American honors and contributed to a conference title. She then went on to transfer to the University of Southern California, graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in non-governmental organizations and social change.
