CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – First-year attackman Conor Gill (the St. Paul’sSchool in Baltimore, Md.) scored five first-quarter goals as Virginiadefeated Rutgers 24-6 in men’s lacrosse Tuesday at the University Hall TurfField.

The Cavaliers (2-1) scored four goals in the game’s first 1:41 andled 12-2 after one quarter, tying a school record for goals in a quarter.

“I took what they gave me and scored a couple of goals,” Gill said.”The faceoff guys, Jason Hard and David Jenkins, did the hard part. I justhad to put it in the goal.”

Third-year attackman Drew McKnight had three assists in the firstquarter for Virginia. The Cavaliers’ third starting attackman, TuckerRadebaugh, finished the game with two goals and three assists.

Sophomore attackman Scott Massey (Garden City, NY) led Rutgers(1-3) with three goals and one assist.

Virginia hosts Massachusetts Saturday at 1 p.m.
