CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Senior attackman Dylan Schlott scored four goals as sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins dominated third-ranked Virginia for three quarters and held on for a 13-10 men’s lacrosse victory.

Three of Schlott’s goals came as the Blue Jays (3-2) were building a 12-4 lead 1:15 into the third quarter. Hopkins scored five extra-man goals on five opportunities in that stretch.

Sophomore Brian Carcaterra kept the Cavaliers (3-2) at bay, stopping nine shots in the first 8:17 of the game.

With the score 12-4, Virginia held the Blue Jays scoreless for more than 23 minutes of the third and fourth quarters. Attackman Drew McKnight scored his second goal of the game to cut the deficit to 12-8 with 12:14 remaining in the game, but Virginia could get no closer. Tucker Radebaugh (2 goals) beat Carcaterra but this shot hit the pipe, and then Carcaterra saved another Radebaugh shot to end Virginia’s threat.

Virginia next plays top-ranked Maryland March 28 in College Park. Hopkins hosts North Carolina on the same day.
