CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Scott Shepherd, the head post-graduate basketball coach at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., the last five years, has been named an assistant basketball coach in the University of Virginia men’s basketball program.
“We are thrilled that Scott Shepherd will be joining our staff,” said Virginia men’s head basketball coach Pete Gillen. “He will add a lot to our basketball program. Scott has proven his ability as a basketball coach in building Hargrave into a national prep school power. I’m confident that his contacts throughout the country will only help our program.”
Shepherd’s teams at Hargrave compiled an overall record of 127-18 (.876), including a 27-3 record during the 1998-99 season. His 1997-98 Hargrave team had an overall record of 26-1. Fifty of his players have gone on to Division I schools.
