Softball Drops Two Against Ragin' Cajuns

LAFAYETTE, La. – The University of Virginia softball team dropped a pair of games in its doubleheader with Southwestern Louisiana. Virginia lost the first game 3-1, before falling 4-0 in the nightcap.
Stacey Zagol started game one on the mound for Virginia. She recorded four strikeouts and allowed four hits on the afternoon. The Cavaliers managed to gather three hits in the game, but none were bigger for the ‘Hoos than when Stacy Holmes (1-3) hit UVa’s first home run of the season. Beth Crimi (1-3) and Lori Reese (1-3) each added singles in the loss.
In game two, pitcher Chrisy Quinn posted three strikeouts and scattered six hits in her outing. The Cavaliers struggled at the plate, recording only two hits in the game. Karen Breshears (1-2) and Crimi (1-3) each singled for Virginia in the loss.
The sweep drops Virginia’s record to (9-12) overall. The Cavaliers will travel to Monroe, La. to face Northeast Louisiana on Thursday, (Mar. 12) in a doubleheader. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
