Women's Tennis Team Eliminated from NCAA Tournament

BLACKSBURG, Va.–The University of Virginia women’s tennis team lost to Virginia Commonwealth University 5-2 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA East Region Tournament at Virginia Tech on Friday (May 15).
The loss eliminates the Cavaliers from the tournament and ends their season. UVa finished the season with an overall record of 13-10.
Virginia Commonwealth improves to 19-3 with the victory and advances to the semifinals of the tournament.
Virginia Commonwealth’s #2 doubles team of Sofia Hiort and Lenka Zacharova clinched the victory with an 8-0 win over UVa’s Paige Boiko and Kendall White.
Virginia got wins in the #5 and #6 singles matches. Virginia’s Christie Schweer defeated Carmen Beitzer 6-3, 6-1 in the #5 singles competition and UVa’s Kelly Weaver defeated Sira Thayaprasat 6-1, 6-1 in the #6 singles match.
