UVa’s Ashlee Patten Coaches World Rowing Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Ashlee Patten, an assistant coach in theUniversity of Virginia women’s rowing program, served as a coach with theUnited States Women’s National Team at the recent World RowingChampionships in St. Catherine’s, Ontario, Canada. Patten coached thewomen’s lightweight single and the lightweight quad.

Lisa Schlenker, the single sculler for the United States, earnedthe silver medal on August 28. Schlenker finished 1.1 seconds behind PiaVogel of Switzerland.

The United States’ lightweight quad controlled its race from theoutset and defeated two-time defending world champion Germany by threeseconds to win the gold medal on August 29.

Patten, a native of Flintstone, Ga., is in her third year as anassistant coach at Virginia.
