CORVALLIS, Ore. — The University of Virginia women’s soccer team fell in their opener to Oregon State (2-1) tonight 2-0 in Cornwallis, Ore. OSU’s Bree Anna Jolin scored twice, nine minutes apart, to send the Cavaliers to the loss. Virginia is ranked #18 in the NSCAA preseason poll.
Virginia (0-1) doubled up the Beavers in shots (14-7) and had 7 corner kicks to OSU’s 1, but the Cavaliers were unable to dent the net. The Beavers’ Elizabeth Pease had five saves while her Cavalier counterpart Julie Harris, who played all 90 minutes, had one save.
The Cavaliers travel to Portland to take on the #3 Pilots on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 5:15 EST. Virginia leads the all-time series with Portland 1-0-1 and defeated them 1-0 two years ago.
