CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia junior Katie Tracy (Richmond,VA/James River) was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week forSeptember 19, 1999 after she netted two assists in the Cavaliers’ upset ofthen-#9 Duke. It is the fourth time that Tracy has been named to the teamin her career and the second time this season.
Tracy fed Angela Hucles (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy) and LoriLindsey (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) to stake the Cavaliers to a 2-0 lead inthe first half in the game against Duke. The next day Tracy hit a goal inthe 85th minute against N. C. State to help the Cavaliers to a 3-1 defeatof the Wolfpack.
Earlier this year Tracy hit the game-winner to upset then-#3Portland in Oregon and was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week.
Tracy is also the current ACC Soccer Player of the Week.
Virginia, ranked #19 in the Coaches’ poll, will host the Coca-ColaClassic this Friday and Sunday. The Cavaliers host #23 Stanford on Fridayat 7:00 pm and face off with #7 Hartford at 3:00 on Sunday.
