Charlottesville, Va. — Virginia senior Angela Hucles (Norfolk,Va./Norfolk Academy) was named the ACC Soccer Player of the Week as she ledthe Cavaliers to a pair of wins over ranked teams as the Cavaliers capturedthe 1999 Coca-Cola Classic.
In the game against #23 Stanford, Hucles hit the game-winning goal,capping a three-goal rally that brought the Cavaliers back from a two-goaldeficit in the second half. Hucles also assisted on the first Virginiagoal, which came just 49 seconds after Stanford’s tally to put the Cardinalup 2-0.
On Sunday, Hucles assisted on the game’s first goal in the firsthalf that gave Virginia the lead they would not relinquish as the Cavaliersupset previously undefeated #7 Hartford.
This week the #10 Cavaliers host ACC rival Maryland on Wednesday at7:30. The Hoos then travel to Clemson to take on the #15 Tigers onSaturday. Game time is still to be determined.
