Angela Hucles Named ACC Soccer Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia senior Angela Hucles (Norfolk,Va./Norfolk Academy) was named the ACC Soccer Player of the Week as she ledthe Cavaliers to a pair of wins over ranked teams, including #2 Florida,last week.

In the game against #2 Florida, Hucles scored the first goal togive the Cavaliers the early 1-0 lead in the first half. In overtime,Hucles assisted on Lori Lindsey (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike)’s game-winninggoal. It was the first loss for the Gators since October 12, 1998 and thefirst time this season that Florida had given up two goals.

On Sunday, Hucles scored the first goal for the Cavaliers as theyfought their way back from an early two-goal deficit to defeat George Mason3-2. Hucles put back her own penalty kick rebound to put the Cavaliers onthe board, and then assisted Tracey Lache (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) inthe 83rd minute with the game-winner.

This week the #8 Cavaliers host ACC rival Florida State on Friday,Oct. 15 at 7:00 pm. Virginia will then host the Oakland Grizzles on Sundayat 1:00 pm.
