Cavaliers Battle James Madison Wednesday At Home

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia will host North Carolina on Sunday as the twoteams tangle for the second time this season. UNC took the first battle 1-0and this matchup looks as tough as the first one was. Last year inCharlottesville the Hoos took the rematch 2-1 after losing the opener 3-0in Chapel Hill.
Cheering for Shell!: Michelle Vizzuso, one of our assistant coaches, wasnamed the Player of the CENTURY in field hockey. The Newark Star-Ledgertapped the USA team member as the state’s best player in the 1900’s.
Jumpin for Jess!: Jess Coleman has notched the game-winning goal or assistin eight of the Cavaliers’ nine wins this season. Her 36 points leads theteam and ranks her third all-time in school history for scoring as asophomore. Her 14 goals ties her for fourth all-time as a second-year.Coleman was also named one of the top-10 field hockey players of thecentury for the state of New Jersey.
Crazy for Carrie: Carrie Goodloe has 12 assists this season, which ranksthird all-time as a sophomore at UVA.
High Five for Lo!: Laura Lindsay’s 8 assists this season give her 37 forher career, which ranks third all-time. Two more and she will move intosecond-place all-time at Virginia.
Looking Ahead:
Dueling with the Dukes: The Cavaliers host the scrappy Dukes on Wednesday.Virginia leads the all-time series 21-9-1, but the Dukes have taken four ofthe last six, including a huge 2-1 upset last year. JMU enters the game ona two-game losing streak.
