CARY, NC – The University of Virginia golf team finished ninth in a 10-team field at the Bell South Yellow Pages Intercollegiate at the MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, N.C. The Cavaliers fired a 54-hole total of 914 (301-305-308).

Top-ranked UNLV barely withstood a charge in the last round by Wake Forest to capture the team title by one stroke. The Runnin Rebels posted a 298 in todays third round to finish with a 4-over par 868 to hold off the Demon Deacons. Wake Forest shot a 1-under par 287, todays low round, to finish at 869.North Carolina finished third (875) and Duke fourth (879).

UNLV sophomore Jeremy Anderson was the individual medalist as he fired a 6-under par 210 (67-72-71). Wake Forests Todd Lynch finished second, two strokes back, with a 212 (71-70-71).

Senior Lewis Chitengwa was Virginias low man in a tie for 15th place with a 5-over par 221 (73-73-75). Freshman Cameron Yancey tied for 23rd place with a 223 (74-76-73). Sophomore James Driscoll tied for 31st at 225 (74-75-76).

Virginia head coach Mike Moraghan rearranged his line-up for the first time this spring by inserting senior Max Rehm and sophomore Jimmy Forehand into the line-up. Rehm finished 54th with a 245 (80-81-84), while Forehand finished 55th at 247 (81-82-84).

The Cavaliers return to action next weekend at the ACC Tournament. The tournament begins Friday (April 17) at the Old North State Club in New London, N.C.
