Virginia finished with a 54-hole total of 880. North Carolina won the team title by four strokes over Northwestern 864 to 868. Georgia Tech and Nebraska tied for third with 870 and East Tennessee State was fifth at 875, five strokes ahead of the Cavaliers.
Driscoll was one of four golfers tied for second with a 4-under par 212. East Tennessee’s Eamonn Brady held off the quartet to win by one stroke. Brady’s 68 in today’s final round tied for the low round of the tournament and enabled him to hold on for the win.

Mike Mitchell turned in his second straight top-20 finish for Virginia. He finished with a 3-over par 219 (72-72-75). Freshman Steve Marino tied for 38th with a 224 (79-68-77). Marino’s 68 in yesterday’s second round is the best round of his young career.
