Football Holds Preseason Scrimmage

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va – Junior tailback Thomas Jones rushed for four touchdowns to highlight a football scrimmage at the University of Virginia today.

Jones rushed 12 times for 97 yards and scored on runs of three, four, 13 and 42 yards. Sophomore tailback Antwoine Womack rushed for 48 yards and scored on a six-yard run.

Senior quarterback Aaron Brooks completed 10 of 14 passes for 215 yards.

Sophomore place-kicker Todd Braverman kicked field goals of 28 and 35 yards. Two freshman place-kickers also booted field goals-David Greene from 42 yards and Greg Owens from 38 yards.

Senior linebacker Wali Rainer and junior defensive end Travis Griffith led the defense with six tackles apiece. Junior defensive back Wale Elegbe and sophomore defensive back Jason Small were each in on five tackles. Sophomore defensive tackle Kofi Bawuah had two tackles for loss, including one quarterback sack. Junior defensive back Antwan Harris had a 42-yard interception return.
