CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Cavalier senior All-American Michelle Vizzuso (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) scored her 41st career goal today as the #1 Cavaliers defeated Appalachian State 9-0. Vizzuso is now only the third player in ACC history–and the first player in Cavalier history–to record 40+ goals and 40+ assists in a career (Lynsey McVicker, Maryland; Cindy Werley, UNC).
A member of the United States national field hockey team, Vizzuso is already the career leader at Virginia in assists with 42. She ranks fourth all-time at Virginia in career scoring with 126 points (41g, 42a). Her 41 goals ranks fifth all time at Virginia, just behind Cheryl Gleasons 42 (1981-84).
The top-ranked Cavaliers will face Richmond on Wednesday, Sept. 16 in Richmond. Game time against the Spiders is 4:00 pm.
