North Carolina Wins Keswick Club Cavalier Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of North Carolina’s Brad Hyler won the individual championship with a three round total of 11-under-par 202 to lead the Tar Heels to the team championship at the 54-hole Keswick Club Cavalier Classic. North Carolina finished with a team total of 831, 21 strokes under par.
Hyler shot a one-under-par 70 in Sunday’s (Sept. 20) final round and defeated teammate Don Hill by three strokes. Hyler finished with rounds of 65-67-70, while Hill had rounds of 66-67-72 for a 205 total of eight-under-par.
Northwestern finished second in the team competition with an 11-under-par total of 841 and Maryland was third at 848.
Virginia finished 13th in the 14-team field with a team score of 889. The top players for the Cavaliers were Shivin Kwatra and James Driscoll. Kwatra finished tied for 11th in the individual competition with rounds of 70-68-73 for a total of two-under-par 211. Kwatra played as an individual entry in the tournament and his score did not count for the Virginia team. Driscoll finished 17th in the individual competition after rounds of 71-73-69 for a 213 total.
Other members of the Virginia team competing in the tournament were Steve Marino (76-71-74 221), Cameron Yancey (74-77-74 225), Jimmy Forehand (75-79-78 232) and Mike Mitchell (77-80-76 233).
Other UVa players competing as individual entries in the tournament included Andrea Brotto (77-76-73 226), Shep Stevens (76-81-70 227), Jose Bird (76-76-76 228), George Pickral (78-77-75 230), Eric Dandridge (80-74-78 232) and Tim Cooke (77-82-79 238).
