Charlottesville, Va. – Two Cavaliers have retained spots on the United States Under-20 National Field Hockey team which was announced todayat Rutgers, the site of the national selection camp.

Virginia’s Jessica Coleman (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) and Becky Worthington (FairviewVillage, Pa./Methacton) were both named back on the squad at the the national selections. Worthington and Coleman were both on the team that took the silver medal at the Montreal Cup this summer.

Coleman returns to the U-20 team following her appointment in 1997.She has been a member of the Under-16 and the Under-17 teams for the UnitedStates. She is a two-time first-team All-American and a member of herall-state team for the last two years. Jessie was selected as the Player ofthe Year in New Jersey and recognized as one of the top-six field hockeyplayers in the history of high school field hockey in the state. She ledthe state in scoring in 1997 with 38 goals and 23 assists and set herschool’s scoring records with 245 career points (92 goals, 61 assists). Sheparticipated in the Junior Olympics in 1995 and 1996, winning one gold andone silver medal.

Worthington shared starting duties last year on the U-20 team andreturns for a second tour of duty. S sophomore for Virginia in 1998,Worthington recorded a 1.25 GAA and had three shutouts. She was a member ofthe US Under-18 team in 1996 and 1997 and was the nation’s leader ingoals-against average in 1997.

Virginia finished 18-5 in 1998 and advanced to the NCAA semifinalsfor the second time in school history. The Cavaliers were ranked numberone in 1998 for the third consecutive year. They advanced to the ACC finalsfor the second consecutive year.
