This is Virginia’s third Peach Bowl invitation. The Cavaliers defeated Purdue 27-24 in the 1984 Peach Bowl and downed Georgia 34-27 in the 1995 game. This is Virginia’s 10th bowl bid, all under head coach George Welsh.

“We are excited about the invitation to the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl,” said Welsh. “It is a nice reward for our team and fans. Our two other Peach Bowl games went down to the wire and I expect this one to be the same. Atlanta is an exciting place for our fans, and the Georgia Dome is a great facility for the players and fans.”

Virginia is 8-2 this season and has one game remaining–at Virginia Tech on November 29.
