CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia softball player Karen Breshears earned a share of the ACC Player of the Week award by hitting (.474) last week for the Cavaliers. The second-year third baseman helped Virginia post a 6-1 record in the Ringor/Winthrop Invitational Tournament, where the Cavaliers finished second out of 39 teams. Breshears scored five runs, gathered five RBI and hit a homerun to go along with five singles. She was also named to the All-Tournament team, along with teammates Chrisy Quinn and Stacey Zagol.

Breshears has started 31 of Virginia’s 33 games, and is sixth on the team with a (.287) batting average. She has recorded 27 hits, scored 13 runs and gathered nine RBI including five doubles, one triple and one homerun.
