James Driscoll Named to First-Team All-State Golf Team

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia golfer James Driscoll was namedto the first-team All-State golf team in voting by the head coaches atVirginia’s nine NCAA Division I schools. Teammate Mike Mitchell was namedto the second team.

Driscoll, a rising senior from Chestnut Hill, Mass., led Virginia in strokeaverage for the third year in a row this season, with an average of 73.36.He had four top-10 finishes during the season and now has 16 top-10finishes for his career. He has been named first-team All-State all threeyears.

Mitchell, a rising junior from Chevy Chase, Md., finished second on theteam with a 74.19 stroke average and was named second-team All-State. Heturned in an outstanding spring campaign, finishing just behind Driscollfor spring average. Mitchell highlighted his season by finishing tied forsecond at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., as Virginiaclaimed the team title.

Joining Driscoll on the first team are Donny Lee and Reg Millage fromVirginia Commonwealth, Michael Hospodar from Old Dominion and Ken Macdonaldfrom Richmond. Richmond’s Nat Withers was named coach of the year.

Faber Jamerson from James Madison, Brian Hill of Radford, Richmond’s ChadMoseley and Troy Thorne from Old Dominion join Mitchell on the second team.
