CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia wrestler Ryan McGrath(Blairstown, N.J./Blair Academy) has been on a tear the past few weeks, andhis achievements have not gone unnoticed.
McGrath was named the AtlanticCoast Conference Wrestler of the Week, becoming the first Cavalier togather the honor this season.
McGrath has won six consecutive matches en route to back-to-back184 pound individual titles in the Virginia State Intercollegiate WrestlingChampionships (1/22) and the American University Congressional Cup (2/6).
Heading into Virginia’s dual match with James Madison on Wednesday (Feb.9), McGrath’s record stands at 14-5 overall, 4-2 in dual match action.
Twoof his 14 victories were recorded by falls and four of his wins were bymajor decision.
McGrath’s six-match win streak is a season-high and is currentlythe longest win streak on the team.
