LAS VEGAS – The University of Virginia men’s golf team is in a three-way tie for seventh place at the Las Vegas Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at the Desert Inn Country Club. The Cavaliers shot a two-over par 290 in the first of three rounds and are tied with Clemson and Georgia. Georgia Tech leads the 14-team field with 274.
Mike Mitchell and Steve Marino lead the Cavaliers with 72 in the first round and are 22nd place. Justin Goodhue is one shot back at 73 and is in a tie for 38th place along with teammate Cameron Yancey. James Driscoll is in 65th place with a 77 for the first round.
Troy Matteson of Georgia Tech and Matt Brost of Texas lead the field with 67 in the opening round.
