STONY BROOK, NY — Jay Jalbert scored four goals and Drew McKnight addedthree goals and three assists to lead No. 2 Virginia to a 19-5 win overStony Brook at Seawolves Field Saturday afternoon. After an early goal byTristram Gillen gave the Seawolves an early 1-0 lead, the second-rankedCavaliers took control by scoring 14 unanswered goals. The Seawolves didnot score again until 6:44 of the third quarter on a goal by Kevin Pall, ascoreless drought of more than 35 minutes.
Virginia had 12 different players score in the game. A.J. Shannon and IanShure each scored two goals and Conor Gill chipped in with a goal and twoassists to help the balanced Cavalier attack. Leading the way for theSeawolves was Pall, who registered his first career hat trick. Gillenadded two goals and Jesse Foss had two assists for Stony Brook which fellto 0-4 on the year
The meeting with second-ranked Virginia marked the highest ranked opponentStony Brook has ever faced. The Seawolves will be in action again nextSaturday when they travel to Navy for an ECAC Lacrosse League matchup.Face-off is 12:00 p.m.
