CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Tailback Tyree Foreman scored three touchdowns on shortruns today to highlight the University of Virginia’s first spring scrimmage.
Quarterback Matt Schaub was the leading passer in the scrimmage. Hecompleted 13 of 15 passes for 138 yards. He completed 11 consecutive passesat one point.
Wide receiver Billy McMullen caught five passes for 86 yards and was theleading receiver in the scrimmage. Tailback Arlen Harris had 16 rushes fora scrimmage-leading 62 yards and two touchdowns. One of his carriesresulted in a 23-yard touchdown scamper.
The defensive effort was led by linebacker Byron Thweatt with nine tackles,including eight solo stops. Defensive back Shernard Newby had six tacklesand an interception. Defensive end Ljubomir Stamenich had four tackles forlost yardage, including three quarterback sacks.
David Greene kicked field goals of 22 and 27 yards, while Josh Jonesconnected on a 27-yard field goal.
