Charlottesville, Va. – The IWLCA Poll Committee has released thesixth week’s rankings for the NCAA Division I lacrosse field for 2000.Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons.
Johns Hopkins breaks into the poll for the first time in theirhistory as a Division I team, coming in at #20. Maryland and Princeton stay1-2 for the third consecutive week as the Terrapins got all eightfirst-place votes.

In games involving ranked teams this week, #9 Dartmouth travels toBoston to take on the #10 Terriers on Tuesday, while #13 George Mason and#15 Syracuse play at Rutgers. On Wednesday #2 Princeton goes down Route 1to take on the #18 Owls. On Thursday in Maryland the #1 Terrapins host #5Georgetown while #6 North Carolina and #16 Penn State tangle at JohnsHopkins. The Terrapins also play at #20 Johns Hopkins on Saturday. OnSunday America East foes Boston University and #8 Delaware play at BU whilethe #16 Nittany Lions travel to #9 Dartmouth. The #4 Blue Devils host #14Yale on Sunday as well.
The Colonial Athletic Association tournament takes place thisFriday-Sunday with the winner getting an automatic berth into the 2000 NCAANational Collegiate Championship. Four of the seven teams are ranked in thetop 20. Friday is the quarterfinals and top-seed James Madison gets a bye.Final standings will be completed on Tuesday night after a pair of games.
Division II Rankings

The Gannon Lady Knights move into the top spot of the sixth poll,marking the first appearance at the top for the two-time defending ECACChampions. Right behind the Lady Knights are PSAC foes Bloomsburg and WestChester. Bloomsburg’s first-ever win over West Chester last week moved theHuskies into the second position, relegating the Golden Rams to third. Forthe second consecutive week there is a newcomer to the poll as Millersvillemakes its inaugural appearance, coming in at #10.

New #1 Gannon will look to defend its ranking against the former #1and now #3 West Chester on Saturday. Newcomer to the poll #10 Millersvillewill travel to #2 Bloomsburg in a PSAC matchup on Saturday as well. #6Shippensburg hosts two top-10 teams this week with the #2 Huskies coming totown on Thursday and #7 Limestone making the trip on Sunday.
