Virginia's Drew McKnight Named ACC Men's Lacrosse Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – University of Virginia attackman Drew McKnight, whoscored five goals and added three assists as the second-ranked Cavaliersrolled to a pair of victories last week, has been named the Atlantic CoastConference Men’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.
In a 15-3 win over Radford last Tuesday, McKnight assisted on Virginia’sfirst goal and scored his lone goal of the game with two seconds left inthe first half as the Cavaliers held a 10-2 halftime lead.
McKnight led the Cavalier offense to an important ACC road win over #10North Carolina last Saturday. He led the team with four goals and twoassists. In the first half he scored two goals and had an assist as theCavaliers held a slim 4-3 lead at the break. In the third quarter McKnightscored twice more and had another assist as UVa scored five goals to open a9-4 lead. Overall he had a hand in six of UVa’s first nine goals as theCavaliers stretched the lead to a comfortable margin by the beginning ofthe fourth quarter.
The senior from Virginia Beach, Va., is sixth in the nation (and first inthe ACC) in scoring, averaging 5.13 points per game. He also leads the ACCand is tied for eighth in the nation in assists with an average of 2.50 pergame. McKnight also averages 2.63 goals per game, second in the ACC.
