CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The IWLCA Poll Committee has released theseventh week’s rankings for the NCAA Division I lacrosse field for 2000.Rankings will be released weekly on Monday afternoons.
The same twenty teams remain in the polls for the secondconsecutive week. The Loyola Greyhounds are the week’s highest movers afterwinning the CAA title over then-#3 James Madison and in the process gettingthe automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
The IWLCA Poll for April 17 is as follows (with current records,poll points,first place votes, and last week’s ranking)

In games involving ranked teams this week, #1 Maryland takes on #19William & Mary while #8 Virginia hosts #14 George Mason. Action isrelatively quiet until Saturday when fourteen teams are in action. An NCAAAutomatic bid is on the line as #2 Princeton hosts #9 Dartmouth with thewinner having the inside track to the NCAA Tournament. The #10 Terrierstake on #13 Syracuse and #11 Delaware travels to the #7 Greyhounds turf. #4James Madison hosts #5 Georgetown. On Sunday #12 Vanderbilt travels to #16Penn State.
The Atlantic Coast Conference championships take place this weekwith four of the top eight teams in action. On Saturday #3 Duke faces #6North Carolina in the first semifinal and in the nightcap the top-rankedTerrapins begin defense of their title against the #8 Cavaliers. Thesemifinalists meet on Sunday.
