GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Virginia men’s tennis team is thefourth seed in the 42nd annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s TennisChampionship which will be held April 20-23 at the Racquet Club of theSouth in Norcross, Ga. The Cavaliers open the tournament by playingfifth-seeded Florida State in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 21 at 6:00p.m.
Virginia, 43rd in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Poll,stands at 15-8 overall and 5-3 in the ACC this season. The Seminoles are13-9 overall and 4-4 in the conference and are ranked 46th in the ITA pollreleased April 12.
In the only meeting between Virginia and Florida State this season, the’Hoos posted a 4-3 victory in Charlottesville on March 26. The Seminoleslead the all-time series against UVa 7-6.
At the 1999 ACC Championship, the Cavaliers opened the tournament with a4-0 victory over Wake Forest (April 23), but then fell to Duke 4-0 in thesemifinals (April 24).
