BADIN LAKE, N.C. – The Virginia men’s golf team is in eighth placeafter the first round of the ACC Tournament at the Old North State Clubat Uwharrie Point which features a par 72, 7,102-yard layout. TheCavaliers are 12-over par (300) and 16 strokes behind first round leaderN.C. State (284). Georgia Tech is in second place, three strokes behindthe leader.
Virginia’s Steve Marino shot par and is in a eight-way tie foreighth place to lead the Cavaliers. James Driscoll is tied for 17th attwo-over par while Cameron Yancey is in a tie for 30th place atthree-over par and Justin Goodhue is seven-over par and tied for 40thwhile Mike Mitchell shot 14-over par and is in 45th place.
Carl Petterson of N.C. State and John Engler of Clemson lead thetournament at two-under.
The second round begins on Saturday, April 22 at 8:30 a.m. withthe final round on Sunday, April 23.
