BADIN LAKE, N.C. — The Virginia men’s golf team finished seventh in the ACC Golf Championship at the Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point (par 72, 7,102 yards). The Cavaliers finished 27-over par (891) and 35 strokes behind tournament winner Clemson who fired a 10-under par in the final round to claim the championship at eight-under with a 856 total. Georgia Tech finished in second place at three-under (861) and N.C. State, who led the first two rounds, finished in third place at two-under (862). The team title is Clemson’s seventh ACC Team Championship.
Georgia Tech’s Bryce Molder won the ACC Individual Title after carding a 10-under 206 total for the first individual conference title of his career. Carl Pettersson of N.C. State and John Engler of Clemson tied for second place with six-under 210 totals.
Cameron Yancey, who ended the tournament in a three-way tie for 10th place at one-over, was Virginia’s top finisher. Virginia’s Steve Marino finished in a tie for 14th place at three-over, James Driscoll finished in a tie for 29th place at nine-over, Justin Goodhue placed 39th at 16-over and Mike Mitchell finished 45th at 27-over par.
