CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s lacrosse team announces that two additional players have accepted offers of admission from the University and will be joining the team in the fall of 2000.

Joseph Thompson is a 5-11, 190-pound midfielder from St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis, Md. Joe was a Bay State selection All-Star in 1999 and is a captain of his team this spring. He was also a starting linebacker on the Saints football team. He will join current teammates goalie Tillman Johnson and attackman Justin Mullen, who signed letters of intent to attend UVa last fall, as incoming freshmen this fall.

Ryan Thompson (no relation) is a 5-8, 160-pound goalie from Northport High School in Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. Ryan was an All-County selection and a member of the Long Island Empire State lacrosse team in 1999.

Head coach Dom Starsia comments that, “We are happy to announce that both Thompsons will be joining the program. They are two players with excellent lacrosse backgrounds and will strengthen our 2001 team.”

In addition to Johnson and Mullen, the Cavaliers signed midfielder Andrew Agoliati (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Loomis Chaffee School), midfielder Jon Focht (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington H.S.), defenseman Zach Heffner (Averill Park, N.Y./Albany Academy), defenseman Brett Hughes (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington H.S.) and midfielder Ted Lamade (Chevy Chase, Md./Landon School) during the fall signing period.
