The University of Virginia’s Inge Jorgensen (New Wilmington, Pa. /Wilmington) finished in 14th in the javelin competition at the USA Track and Field Olympic Trials held this weekend in Sacramento. Jorgensen’s throw of 49.62m (162′ 9″) was her second-longest of the year. Earlier this year she won the ACC javelin title with a throw of 49.34 (161′ 10″).
Also competing in the javelin was Ann Crouse (Virginia `99) who won three ACC titles while at Virginia and was also a two-time All-American for the Cavaliers. Crouse’s throw of 51.66 (169′ 6″) was good enough to qualify her for the finals, which will take place Monday, July 17.
Jorgensen’s teammate Brian Kollar (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial), who took second at the NCAA Championships in the javelin after winning the ACC title, opens competition tonight.
