Six Virginia Swimmers Compete At Olympic Trials

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The University of Virginia swimming program was represented by six swimmers in the sixth day of competition at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials Monday (August 14) at the Indiana University Natatorium. None of the six swimmers were able to advance out of the preliminary round.
Rising second-year Cara Lane (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) turned in the top finish among the Cavaliers as she finished 16th in the preliminaries of the women’s 800-meter freestyle with a time of 8:52.08.
Doak Finch (Southern Pines, N.C./O’Neal), a 2000 UVa graduate who advanced to the finals of the 200-meter butterfly, was 32nd overall in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 55.44.
UVa swimmers return to action at the U.S. Olympic Trials tomorrow morning (August 15).
