Virginia Football Holds First Preseason Scrimmage

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Tailback Arlen Harris rushed for 101 yards tohighlight the University of Virginia’s first preseason scrimmage thisafternoon.

Harris had 10 carries during the scrimmage and gained more than half of hisyards on a 53-yard burst.

Jonathan Ward rushed for 48 yards and two scores, while Marquis Weeks ranfor 38. Dan Ellis scored two touchdowns on the ground, while Tyree Foremanand Bryson Spinner added one each.

Foreman and Kase Luzar caught two passes apiece to tie for receiving honors.

Placekicker David Greene connected on field goals of 19, 37 and 40 yards.

Linebackers William Clark and Raymond Mann led the defensive effort witheight tackles, including one behind the line, for each. Middle linebackerYubrenal Isabelle had seven tackles, including one for lost yardage, whileAngelo Crowell was in on six stops. Defensive back Tim Spruill had aninterception and also blocked a field goal.
