Women’s Soccer Ranked #16 to Open 2000 Season

The Virginia Cavaliers, who open their 2000 season against the Tribe of William and Mary on Saturday, August 26, are ranked 16th in the pre-season NSCAA poll. The Tribe is ranked 13th in the same poll.

Eleven teams in the top-25 dot the Cavaliers’ schedule, including six in the top-10. Five of the Hoos’ first seven games are against teams in the pre-season poll, with #1 North Carolina hosting the Cavaliers on September 1 to open the ACC season. Six of the eight ACC teams are ranked in the top-25.

Virginia returns eight starters from a squad that went 13-9 in 1999 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA tournament.

Virginia will host #6 Clemson, #10 Florida, and #25 James Madison this season at Klockner Stadium.
